![]() Drew was copy chief for The University Daily Kansan and an intern for the Lawrence Journal-World. He graduated from Piper High School in 2007 and from the School of Journalism in 2011. Drew was born in 1989 and had muscular dystrophy since childhood. This scholarship was established by Drew’s parents, Wendee and Kent Anderson. Students from Midwestern states receive preference for the scholarship. This scholarship honors this graduate of the School of Journalism and School of Law who was an attorney in Frankfort, Kansas. This scholarship honors Alford, who attended the first journalism classes at KU and was Washington bureau chief for The Kansas City Star from 1928 to 1947.
